Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in1976. Lives and works in New York.
Influenced by Argentine surrealism and the tradition of psychoanalysis, she uses humor to question existing structures and address subjectivity. Sofia brings together concrete and metaphorical images, to propose an experience of everyday associations. Using collage as her underlying process, she experiments with montage, overlapping ideas and perspectives to capture the randomness of thoughts; to stretch and unfetter conventional figurations, and to rethink existing schemes. Art is, for her, a territory to reflect on issues of translation, identity, and form.
