Alexis Duque was born in Colombia in 1977. He lives and works in New York. Between. He studied Fine Arts at the University of Antioquia and at the School of Fine Arts, in Medellin, and at The Art Student’s League, in New York.
His works introduce architectonic elements of Eastern Civilization, from Ancient Greece and Rome: columns, capitals and niches, as symbols of a culture that was once predominant, yet as a critique to the Colonial European aesthetics, that currently are part of the daily Latin American imagery.
