Nicolas Garcia Uriburu was born in Argentina in 1937. He was an architect, a visual artist and a central figure of the Landart movement.
In 1988 he was awarded the Gran Premio de Pintura Nacional, in Argentina. Among the international awards he received, were the Prix Lefrank, in Paris, and the First Award at the Tokio Biennial, in 1975. Since 1968, after coloring the Venice Canal during the Venice Biennial, he became committed to transmitting through his work awareness on water contaminations, by creating memorable interventions in rivers and seas around the world.
With his politically charged art, he has informed against the antagonism between nature and civilization; between men and civilization.
