Born in La Plata in 1974. He studied Fine Arts in Rosario (UNR), attended the Art Clinics of Claudia del Río and Pauline Fondevila, and participated in the workshops of Rafael Cippolini, Carlos Herrera, Paola Vega, Fernanda Laguna and Gabriel Valansi.
His work is not restricted to cobalt blue, nor to the different shades of blue, but unfolds in a wider palette, that of his landscapes and characters. The accent placed on the artisanal treatment of his works and the taste for precise and meticulous detail link him to Dutch ceramics.
If one finds a melancholic air dominating Gastón Herrera's work, it is probably due to the fact that in many of his works the proliferating vegetation, which seems to impose its logic on the drawing, shows itself on the way to covering everything. Possibly it is this evidence of the irreversibility of natural processes that overcomes even humor and leaves us, in addition to melancholy, with a subtly ominous disquiet.
