Luciana Pinchiero | A Special Edition

These prints are based on an ongoing series of collages where the interaction of the human/ personal with the monumental/ historical ‘activates’ the image of a statue, which abandons its rigidity to become human, be vulnerable, and ‘mingle’ with characters of various genders. The mini-stories they tell are usually of a ‘romantic comedy’ style, working also as a commentary about gender roles and power. There are four groups in this series: Brides (from a vintage catalog about the history of bridal gowns), Movies (from catalogs of movie stars like Greta Garbo), Romance (from covers of pulp novels) and Life (from vintage Life magazines), all in combination with images of public statues, and additional misc. items such as flowers and every day objects.
